Other ways to help:  WA2S.org is in need of an RV/Motorhome.  It is difficult to make a complete list of needs for this expedition, therefore we would prefer monetary donations so that we can obtain only the items necessary to complete this mission.  Thank you!

Who is in the Gulf working with the Oiled Animals!?

The lead animal rescue group partnering with BP in the Gulf is Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research (http://www.tristatebird.org/) and they are working with International Bird Rescue Research Center (http://www.ibrrc.org/)  (see the video below - WA2S.org interview with Jay Holcomb of IBRRC:Oiled Bird Rehabilitation Center Press Conference) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. World Animal Awareness Society http://www.WA2S.org/ has been in the regions collecting the visual data specific to the human-animal interactions now occurring.

Amazing Animal Antics

 Volunteer, Be On Stage, Come Enjoy the Show!! 

"Amazing Animal Antics" live at 7PM on Saturday May 29 in Frankenmuth, Michigan during Dog Bowl 2010! The show is the lead-in to an incredible Hot-Air Balloon Glow as dozens of beautiful hot-air balloons ascend into the night sky.

Be in the Show -- Do you have an animal that performs? Than we would like to showcase you and your animal in the show. You can sign up at the World Animal Awareness Society - WA2S.org Table at this event to perform on stage with your dog!!

Volunteer -- Volunteers are needed to help spread the word at Frankenmuth prior to the event and help in the audience during the show. We will also need a few people to help Tom on stage during the show. If you would like to help please meet at the stage no later than 3PM on Saturday May 29th. You can also visit the WA2S.org table earlier in the day to sign-up.

WA2S.org to Survey Human/Animal Interactions in the Wake of the Oil Spill

with the World Animal Awareness Society in Haiti after the devastating earthquake

From the Summer 2010 issue:

Tom McPhee, founder and executive director of the World Animal Awareness Society (www.wa2s.org) traveled to earthquake-ravaged Port-au-Prince, Haiti, so he could document and film the rescue and assessment work being done by major international animal rescue organizations. Tom tells us, “I have a purpose, and I believe I'm supposed to be here filming the potentially important intersections between humans and animals during this time of crisis.” Tom met up with members of ARCH (Animal Rescue Coalition Haiti) and SODOPREC@ (the Dominican Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and spent time filming the widespread devastation inflicted upon the people and animals in this crisis, which left hundreds of thousands of people and animals dead, injured, or homeless.

A Letter From Our Founder

As Executive Director, I am nearing the end of the first round (seed capital round) of our foundational capital campaign for the World Animal Awareness Society (WA2S.org).  I have only a few days left in which to raise $10,000 and receive a “Triple Challenge Grant” that will turn that $10k into $30k.  This foundation grant is such an essential aspect to the goals of the Society that I truly need to ask your help to reach this goal - I am literally asking every person I know.  every little bit will help.

As it applies to our mission, the WA2S.org is about to release three new documentaries: one on dog hoarding in Michigan, one on dog tethering in Macon Georgia, and a continuing expose on puppy mills filmed throughout the US.  The Society also quickly had great success in developing relationships at the highest levels of the leading animal organizations in the US and we are in discussions to have the WA2S serve in the role of official archivist for more than one major animal organization.  The WA2S.org has developed a template and infrastructure and on May 11, 2010 will be unveiling the High School based club called the “Visionaries Club” whose goal it is to have students film stories based on human-animal interactions in their own community and have them presented to the world as part of ongoing WA2S film festival relationships.

I understand many people may help other, more established organizations that also need support, but the WA2S is not an animal rescue organization.  The World Animal Awareness Society is a society of people interested in the continuing education of people.  The work we do will last for generations and generations!
